Curious Case of PENjamin Button

You’ve seen him as a small town criminal along side Thelma and Louise.

He reversed the aging process, striking  curiousity around the world…

He was a Vampire long before Twilighters ever hit the stage.

As Tyler Durden’s alter ego, he made the rules - ”The first rule of fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you do NOT talk about Fight Club.”

Attracting world-wide media attention, he’s stirred up a play-ground style Hollywood cat fight: Team Aniston vs Team Jolie, anyone?!

He’s outsmarted the Vegas strip with Clooney and Damon, not one, not two, but Eleven, Tweleve, & Thirteen times.

BUT you’ve never seen Brad Pitt in this light before…

Lookin' Sharpie Mr. Pitt, lookin' sharp..

Lookin' Sharp, Mr. Pitt, lookin' sharp..

What do you think, does Beckham have a little competition here??

How can Beckham make a Sharpie look so good?

jsDesigner: Jill Stuart

Designer Jill Stuart was deep into the fashino industry since birth, as her parents owned a popular ’60s Manhattan clothing store called Mister Pants, dressing stars including Natalie Wood and Lucille Ball.  Leveraging those connections, Stuart was able to  jump-start her own career.  At 15, this Manhattan native designer had jewelery and handbags displayed in the windows of high end stores including Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Henri Bendel and Neiman Marcus.

The Jill Stuart label became well known for innovative ad campaigns with top fashion photographers.  While other designers were going grunge in the early 90′s Stuart turned to preppy and plaids, which became notoriously linked to the popular teen movie, Clueless.  Stuart’s feminine, sometimes frilly collections can be found in her Soho flagship, as well as in higher-end department stores, and has come to include handbags, shoes, and perfume. In 2007, Stuart launched a secondary line called Jill by Jill Stuart featuring ready-to-wear pieces at lower prices.

Breast Cancer Facts:

The seriousness of invasive breast cancer is strongly influenced by the stage of the disease; that is, the extent or spread of the cancer when it is first diagnosed. There are two main staging systems for cancer. The American Joint Committee on Cancer classification of tumors uses information on tumor size and how far it has spread within the breast and nearby organs (T), lymph node involvement (N), and the presence or absence of distant metastases (spread to distant organs) (M). II, III, or IV is assigned, with stage I being an early stage and stage IV being the most advanced. The AJCC staging system is commonly used in clinical settings.

A simpler system used for staging of cancers is known as the SEER Summary Stage system and is more commonly used in reporting to cancer registries and for public health research and planning.  According to this system:

– Local-stage tumors are cancers confined to the breast.

– Regional-stage tumors have spread to surrounding tissue or nearby lymph nodes.

– Distant-stage cancers have metastasized (spread) to distant organs.

Breast Cancer Fact

Doctors estimate that 5 to 10 percent of breast cancers are linked to gene mutation passed through generations of a family. A number of inherited defective genes that can increase the likelihood of breast cancer have been identified. The most common are breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA1) and breast cancer gene 2 (BRCA2), both of which increase the risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.

If you have a strong family history of breast cancer or other cancers, blood tests may help identify defective BRCA or other genes that are being passed through your family. Consider asking your doctor for a referral to a genetic counselor who can review your family health history. A genetic counselor can also discuss the benefits, risks and limitations of genetic testing with you.

And the winner is…

Yes, it’s the new Stainless Steel Sharpie, currently held up in a celebrity gifting suite in L.A., busy hob-nobbing with celebs and other industry big-wigs in an effort to GET NOTICED!   The truth is this is one Sharpie that doesn’t have to shout from the rooftops.  Today I watched as celeb after celeb stepped up to our Sharpie table at Melanie Seigel’s Platinum Party Gifting Suite in West Hollywood (at the super chic Palihouse Hotel) and fawned over the new Sharpie.  Second that with all of my Twitter friends (sharpiesusan) who sent Tweets of praise and want.  And, BTW, it wasn’t just celebs who were doing the drooling, it was everybody in the room – the publicists and camera crews, the photogs and stylists, the girls showing purses and the athletic shoe guy and even the girl wearing the beret selling hi-tech headsets.  People couldn’t keep their hands off of our shiny new toy.

Lots of you have asked so here are the deets:  $6.99, refillable cartridge ($1.99), fine point, black only (for now) available at Office Depot, Staples, Walmart and other retailers in late March.  Oh, and that’s a laser etched Sharpie logo on the barrel.  Swank!

Our post-award ceremony reports will start Monday, after the news is out about best picture, best actor and best dressed — and after the new Stainless Steel Sharpie rests up from all the parties and celebrity action here in Tinsel Town.  I know if there was an award for best Sharpie, the new Stainless Steel would take the gold (ok, make that silver).    Whatever the prize, Sharpie would humbly accept, and give thanks to all of you, its long-standing and loyal fans, for always making Sharpie feel special, no matter how we dress it up.  That’s because shiny or not, Sharpie always delivers.  You can’t fake that, not even in LA-LA land.

Sharpie Sighting – David Beckham

David on the dotted line
David on the dotted line

Don’t know how you could have missed it (since he’s one of the most talked about celeb/athletes ever), but in case you did, Sharpie has a partnership with soccer star David Beckham that includes TV commercialsprint ads, and a promotion where you can win a chance to meet him in person (hurry and enter before January 31, 2009).  I was on-site at the TV ad shoot in Los Angeles earlier this year and can I just say he was about as kind and modest a celebrity (did I mention gorgeous) as I have ever met (this includes my former dealings with Punky Brewster, a.k.a. Soleil Moon Frye, Scarlett Johannson, football’s Steve Young, and former President Jimmy Carter, who I personally witnessed work from sun up until sun down building homes for Habitat for Humanity).  Anywho…I posted this picture because I thought you should know that David Beckham really does use Sharpie markers to sign autographs.  I bet he also wears Armani suits and Adidas shoes – who wouldn’t?  These are great brands, just like Sharpie.
